In our last post, hair loss was revealed as the number one concern clients bring up with their stylists.
Now it’s time to hear about what causes hair loss.
Yes, it’s true that some hair loss is due to breakage or styling stress, but those are external influences.
More commonly, and genetics aside, the underlying reason for hair loss may be:
- Hormonal imbalance
- Vitamin or mineral deficiency
- Dietary changes
- Side effects from common medications
- Psychological stress or major life changes
- Physical stress (pregnancy, nursing, new exercise programs)
The bottom line is that hair loss is an inside job, and change, which comes in many forms, is a big part of it.
It may not occur to you to speak to your doctor about hair loss during a routine check-up, but you can see from the list why it might be a good idea.
In our next post, we’ll talk about how we can support improving your scalp health when these influences factor into your life.
